Finding the right stick vacuum cleaner can be a challenge in and of itself. We’d love to tell you that any random stick would work in every scenario, but that’s simply not the case. With the high number of vacuum cleaners entering the market seemingly every few months, the “right” stick is probably some hidden gem from an unknown company manufacturing their products in some obscure location.
Of course, you could always go the look-at-the-brand route and get something that has a bit of weight to it. In this article, we’re going to take a look at the Tineco PURE ONE S12 Plus, another smart vacuum cleaner with more bells and whistles than you probably need.
But other than its Wi-Fi connectivity and real-time alerts, does it perform? Keep reading to find out.

Auto/Manual Adjustable Suction
One of the largest benefits you get by going with Tineco’s line of S12 smart stick vacs ultimate suction power. The S12 Plus has a maximum suction power of 150 watts which the company boasts is six times as powerful as any DC cordless stick out there.
What separates the Tineco S12 stick vac series is its smart adjustable suction. Depending on the type of surface and debris you’re vacuuming, the S12 Plus can automatically adjust suction power. This not only saves a couple dollars on electricity every year, but it also reduces the amount of noise produces when it needs to (minimum of 71 decibels).
If you’d like to maintain full control over how much suction power to deliver, simply turn the auto-adjust mode off and adjust the slider (located on the vacuum’s handle) to the desired power. It’s as simple as that!
Handy LED Display
Just above the handle is an LED display which shows everything you need to know about the performance of the S12 Plus. First, it displays how much suction power the tool is currently exerting which, when set on auto mode, can give you an idea on how much power you need for certain surfaces and/or debris.
In the center of the screen, you can see the remaining battery power. Perhaps the most useful thing there is the warning sign that alerts you when the filter needs to be cleaned or whether there are any malfunctioning components.
Dual Brush Cleaning
The S12 Plus tackles your floors and carpets with two brushes – a hard-bristle, motor-driven brush that dislodges embedded debris, and a soft roller bristle for pushing debris into the vacuum’s intake.
The biggest worry that many people have regarding the motor-driven brush is that it can scratch tiled and floor boards. Fortunately, although the bristles are a lot stiffer than the intake brush, this is not the case. The agitating brush cannot retract, but even when vacuuming on smooth surfaces, it doesn’t need to.
Rinse-free Filter Cleaning Tool
If the S12 Plus is experiencing a noticeable reduction if suction ability, this may be a sign that the filter is clogged and needs a quick cleaning. Tineco has included their ingenious Rinse-free Cleaning Tool that does an excellent job at maintaining a healthy filter without using water.
Essentially, with regular use, the included filter will not impact suction power, giving you maximum cleaning performance for much longer than you’d expect from a single, reusable filter.
Wall-mount Recharge Station
Like many stick vacuums, the S12 Plus comes with a wall-mounted charger for storage and charging convenience. Whenever the tool is not in use, simply hang it up and let ‘er refuel. The charging station also has storage compartments for three of the numerous cleaning attachments that come with the S12 Plus.
The rest goes into a storage bag (included) and is stored in a closet.
Downloadable App
Tineco has included a downloadable app for your mobile device. The app lets you know everything about the stick vac that you can find on the built-in LED display (suction power, malfunctions, remaining battery life).
We’ve asked ourselves numerous times whether the downloadable app is a nice-to-have feature or just something unnecessary, and we’ve concluded that for the most part, the LED display is sufficient in providing you with all relevant information. The app is nice but a bit of a hassle to use. You can survive without downloading the app and connecting the smart stick vac to your home’s Wi-Fi.
100-plus-minute Runtime
But perhaps the best thing about this stick vac is its ultimate runtime. Compared to most models on the market, you’re going to get more than double the amount of cleaning time from a single charge out of the S12 Plus.
This model comes with two 2,500-mAh Li-Ion batteries that provide up to 100 minutes of power (low-suction). The average cleaning time depends on how dirty your floors are and whether you’re dealing with carpets or not.
Compared to the S12 M
We’ve reviewed the Tineco Pure One S12 M in another article, and we’ve noticed a clear distinction between this and that. Although the S12 Plus has better battery life and a soft-bristle brush for improved cleaning performance, this stick vac is missing one crucial feature: a Bluetooth speaker!
Sure, the Bluetooth speaker sucks up more power – thus reducing the S12 M’s runtime by about 20 minutes per charge – but if you’re like us, then you’ll want to drown the constant droning of the vacuum by blasting music at high volume.
That’s just our take on the Bluetooth speaker.
The S12 Plus is also missing a camera, but if we’re sincere, who would want a camera on their stick vac in the first place?

Verdict
There’s a lot to like about the Pure One S12 Plus from Tineco, and it gives modern Dyson stick vacs a run for their money (or price tag). The S12 Plus features the auto-adjustable suction ability for dealing with all sorts of debris without wasting power.
In a lot of ways, this stick vac is similar to the S12 M that we’ve checked out in a previous article, but the S12 Plus is superior in terms of runtime and brushes. And just like the S12 M, this stick vacuum will leave you satisfied with grit-free floors and carpets.
