Most of the vacuum cleaners that are bought and sold are upright vacuum cleaners. Upright vacuum cleaners are the most popular vacuum cleaners around, and they have been for many years.
Why is that?
Upright vacuum cleaners are some of the most affordable vacuum cleaners that you can buy. They don’t cost a lot of money, and you can find them just about anywhere, due to their popularity. Much of their popularity has to do with this affordability, but it also has to do with the excellent suction/cleaning performance that upright vacuums give you.
You see, not only are upright vacuums some of the most affordable vacuum cleaners on the market, but they are also some of the most powerful vacuum cleaners! For what you pay, you get quite a bit. You get enough suction power to clean on just about any surface, and to thoroughly remove all of the dirt, dust, and debris that is on the surfaces in your home.

While upright vacuums are all of those things, there is one thing that they are not: mobile. Upright vacuums are, well, upright. They stand tall and upright, and they’re also quite bulky. Moving them around can be a pain, and so can storing.
This is changing. Manufacturers know that people want smaller vacuum cleaners, but they don’t want to lose any vacuuming performance. So, with this knowledge in mind, manufacturers are designing upright vacuums that are smaller and much easier to move around and store.
You are going to learn about a couple of those upright vacuums, in this buying guide. You’re going to learn about the Shark Navigator Zero-M Pet Pro, to start. This is the main vacuum cleaner we’ll be looking at, and it’s fantastic.
When we’re done looking at what the Shark Navigator Zero-M Pet Pro offers, we’re going to look at three other upright vacuums. More specifically, we’re going to look at the Shark Navigator ZU561, Shark DuoClean NV803, and then the Shark Navigator Pet Plus NV251.
What Are The Features Of The Shark Navigator Zero-M Pet Pro?
To start off, the Shark Navigator Zero-M Pet Pro is much smaller, and lighter than most upright vacuums. It isn’t a large vacuum, and this means that moving it around is easier, and so is storing it. If you live in a small apartment, or need an upright vacuum to clean a smaller area, then the Shark Navigator Zero-M Pet Pro is a great vacuum to use!
Moving the Shark Navigator Zero-M Pet Pro is easy, not just due to the small size, but also because of the Swivel Steering feature. This Swivel Steering feature lets you swivel the handle, and the cleaner head, to reach spaces that you wouldn’t normally be able to reach. And, there is a 12-foot extension hose that you can use to reach spaces that are further away.
Just as the title of the vacuum suggests, the Shark Navigator Zero-M Pet Pro is an upright vacuum that has been designed for pets. Or, rather, it has been designed in a manner that makes it easy for you to vacuum up after your pets. So, if you have big dogs that shed everywhere, then the Shark Navigator Zero-M Pet Pro is more than capable of dealing with that.
Part of the reason why the Shark Navigator Zero-M Pet Pro is so good at vacuuming up pet hair is due to the Zero-M Brushroll. Now, the Zero-M Brushroll is quite unique, because it cleans itself! When there is a bunch of hair on the brushroll, the Zero-M Brushroll then cleans off that hair, so that none of it becomes tangled or stuck to the brush.
Of course, even if the Zero-M Brushroll were great, it wouldn’t matter that much, if the suction wasn’t good. Fortunately, the Shark Navigator Zero-M Pet Pro gives you excellent suction power!
You can use this suction power to vacuum on stone floors, marble floors, hardwood floors, carpeted floors, rugs, and many other surfaces. When you combine the Zero-M Brushroll and the excellent suction power, you get a vacuum that gives you a lot of versatility. This versatility allows you to vacuum on a wide variety of different surfaces, and the overall experience is smooth, quick, and very easy.
The Shark Navigator Zero-M Pet Pro is a great upright vacuum that is lightweight, easy-to-use and powerful! It’s one of the best vacuums available!
Shark ZU62 Vs. ZU561
Using the Shark Navigator ZU561, you have access to all of the same basic features that the Shark Navigator Zero-M Pet Pro gives you. There aren’t that many differences, but, with that being said, there are a few features that make the Shark Navigator ZU561 a great upright vacuum.
You see, the Shark Navigator ZU561 is a Lift-Away Vacuum. All of the main components are housed within this canister, and this canister is on top of the cleaner head. You can take this canister off of the cleaner head, and then you can move it around to other spaces. If you need to clean the ceiling, or behind a couch, or some other hard-to-reach space, then you can use the Lift-Away part of the Shark Navigator ZU561 to do that!
It’s a great feature, and it only heightens the strong design qualities that were brought over from the Shark Navigator Zero-M Pet Pro. Qualities such as the Zero-M Brushroll, and the excellent suction power.
For what the Shark Navigator ZU561 does, it’s great! It doesn’t add too much to the design of the Shark Navigator Zero-M Pet Pro, but the Lift-Away feature is very useful!
Shark ZU62 Vs. NV803
The Shark DuoClean NV803 is a Lift-Away, just like the Shark Navigator ZU561. Many of the features found in that vacuum are present in the Shark DuoClean NV803.
Where the Shark DuoClean NV803 shines, though, is the fact that it uses DuoClean Technology. DuoClean Technology is a brushroll technology that involves using a bristle brush and a soft brushroll during the cleaning process. Both of these brushes are within the cleaner head, and they allow for vacuuming that is thorough and precise.
That’s where the Shark DuoClean NV803 really succeeds: it’s an efficient upright vacuum. And, the Lift-Away feature only heightens and enhances this efficiency and precision.
Ultimately, the Shark DuoClean NV803 is a great upright vacuum! What makes it great is the performance that it gives you, as well as the mobility and general accessibility! But, with that in mind, it’s a little expensive.
Shark ZU62 Vs. NV251
With the Shark Navigator Pet Plus NV251, you have a vacuum that is a lot like the Shark Navigator Zero-M Pet Pro. But, this is a vacuum that gives you more cleaning power, overall, and an easier vacuuming experience.
Using the Shark Navigator Pet Plus NV251 is quite enjoyable. You can swivel the cleaner head, and the handle, and it’s easy to pick up and store the vacuum. This mobility is great, and to enhance it, there is a twelve-foot hose that you can use to extend the reach of the vacuum.
While the Shark Navigator Pet Plus NV251 doesn’t add many unique features, it excels at giving you lots and lots of suction power. This suction power is combined with the good brush system, making it easy for you to vacuum up large swathes of pet hair, and other kinds of debris.
The Shark Navigator Pet Plus NV251 isn’t that much different from the Shark Navigator Zero-M Pet Pro. But, it’s a great upright vacuum that gives you plenty of cleaning power, and a lot of mobility!
