In this buying guide, we are taking a look at two different freezers. To start off the guide, we’ll be taking a look at the Midea WHS-129C1, and then after that we are going to take a look at the Whynter CUF-301BK. By the time you are finished reading this guide, you’ll know which of these two freezers is right for you.
What Does The Midea WHS-129C1 Have To Offer?
To start off, the Midea WHS-129C1 is a chest freezer. This means that it looks a lot like a chest, and to open this freezer, you’ll need to pull open the door that’s located on the top of the freezer, just as you would with a chest.
Within this chest freezer, you have access to 3.5 cubic-feet of space. While that may not sound like a lot of space, it’s more than sufficient for most families who would like to set up a moderate stockpile of frozen goods.
In the space, you can pack bags of frozen vegetables, frozen meats, ice cream, loaves of bread; and a variety of other frozen goods. This freezer has more than enough space for you to easily store large quantities of those items.
On the top of the chest freezer, right underneath the door, there is a hanging wire storage basket. What is really nice about this hanging wire storage basket is the fact that it allows you to separate some of your frozen items from the others.
That way, on the top of the freezer, you can store items such as ice cream and frozen pizza, which don’t require nearly as much cold air, and then you can store the more temperature-sensitive items at the bottom of the freezer. But, along with that, this hanging wire storage basket makes organizing your frozen items much easier.
Right on the front of this chest freezer, along the bottom-right, there is a small dial. With this dial, you are able to turn the chest freezer on and off, and you can also change the temperature that the freezer is running at.
This chest freezer gives you access to any temperature that’s between -28-degrees and -12-degrees. Since those are very low temperatures, this is an excellent freezer to use if you are storing items that need to be perpetually frozen.
Ultimately, the Midea WHS-129C1 is an excellent chest freezer. It’s very easy-to-set-up and very easy-to-use. Plus, it also offers plenty of space for you to store large quantities of frozen goods, and a range of temperature settings that make it easy to keep your frozen items completely frozen.
What Does The Whynter CUF-301BK Have To Offer?
The Whynter CUF-301BK is an upright freezer that looks a lot like a mini-fridge. To open this upright freezer, you just need to pull the door that’s on the front of the freezer, and this door opens the same way that you would expect a fridge door to open. This simple, and familiar, design allows for convenience and ease-of-use.
Inside this upright freezer, you have access to 3.0 cubic-feet of space. This is more than enough space for a variety of frozen goods – bags of vegetables, ice cream, meat – but the organization and design of this upright freezer makes it a little more difficult to organize larger frozen items.
As such, this upright freezer is better for storing frozen items that can also be stored in a regular freezer, due to their size.
Within the upright freezer, there are two shelves. These shelves can be taken out of the upright freezer and adjusted. With these shelves, you are able to store and organize certain kinds of items very easily – frozen items such as ice cream and bags of vegetables, to name just two examples.
You don’t have to keep these shelves in the upright freezer if you don’t want to, and this allows you to organize the freezer in the way that you desire.
On the front of this upright freezer, there is a small lock. Using this lock, you are able to keep all of the items within the freezer completely secure. Whynter includes two keys – one for you and one for someone that you trust – to this freezer.
With a mechanical temperature control, you are able to set the temperature of this freezer anywhere from -11-degrees to 10.4-degrees. That’s not as cool as the Midea, so this freezer is meant for items that don’t require too much cooling.
In the end, if you need a durable, useful, and convenient upright freezer, you can’t go wrong with the Whynter CUF-301BK. It isn’t the most powerful freezer on the market, but it works very well!
