Humidity is essential for your overall health, but when it exceeds the 50% threshold of what is acceptable relative humidity, then you’re putting your furniture, wood floors, and the health of your loved ones at risk. To get rid of excess water vapor in the air, the best tool to have would be a dehumidifier.
There are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of dehumidifier models on the market, so finding the right one can be a challenge. Two extremely popular dehumidifiers available today are the Ivation IVADM35 and the Pro Breeze Electric Mini Dehumidifier.
Choosing between the two can be a challenge but only if you don’t know what you’re looking for. In this article, we’d like to take a closer look at the two and conclude which of them would be of better use in your household.

Space Capacity
Ivation IVADM35
The first thing to consider when shopping for a dehumidifier is how large of a room the tool will work in. Some dehumidifiers are large enough to reduce moisture levels of an entire home while others are suited for single rooms. The Ivation is in the middle with its 2,200-cubic-foot capacity. This dehumidifier works well in large garages, crawl spaces, apartments, and even an entire floor of your home.

Pro Breeze Electric Mini Dehumidifier
Due to its miniature nature, the Pro Breeze’s 1,200-cubic-foot capacity limits it to bedrooms, office rooms, bathrooms, and small apartments. With its limited water-removal capacity, even garages or basements may prove to be too large for this tool to function optimally.
Conclusion: Just because the Pro Breeze works best in smaller spaces doesn’t mean it’s a bad dehumidifier. In the end, only you can decide how large or small of a dehumidifier will work best for you. Just know that if you’re on the fence on whether to get the IVADM35 or the Pro Breeze, the size of the space you wish to dehumidify should be the main consideration.
Water Removal Rate
Ivation IVADM35
What we mean by water removal rate is how much water the dehumidifier can condense on a daily basis. Warm air passes onto a cold metal coil, cooling it down and condensing vapor into droplets which fall into a container. The Ivation has a removal rate of roughly 20 ounces daily.
Pro Breeze Electric Mini Dehumidifier
The Pro Breeze collects up to 9 ounces of water daily. From its limited water removal rate, it’s clear that the Pro Breeze is designed exclusively for use in smaller rooms.
Conclusion: Removing more water from the air doesn’t necessarily make a dehumidifier better, especially when comparing units from different weight classes. Once again, the Ivation would suit large rooms like basements or an entire floor better than the Pro Breeze, but the Pro Breeze would be sufficient for single rooms without overkill.
Optimal Operating Temperature
Ivation IVADM35 and Pro Breeze Electric Mini Dehumidifier
When running these electric dehumidifiers, you need to ensure that the temperature of the room is within a certain range. Too far below the range and the appliance won’t be able to condense water vapor. Both of these dehumidifier models work optimally in rooms between 81 degrees and 86 degrees Fahrenheit with an 80% relative humidity level.
However, the coldest the Ivation can work is in 46-degree rooms, whereas the Pro Breeze can handle rooms as cold as 41 degrees.
Water Tank Capacity
Ivation IVADM35
There’s nothing more annoying than having to empty out drip pans or basins every couple of hours. However, this could be a reality if a) the pan is too shallow, or b) the room is too hot and humid. The Ivation comes with a removable tank that holds up to 68 ounces of water. With a water removal rate of 20 ounces daily, the tank should last for up to 3 days before needing to be emptied.
Pro Breeze Electric Mini Dehumidifier
The smaller Pro Breeze features a tiny 18-ounce tank which can store at least two days’ worth of water before reaching capacity. A 2-day period is just about the average for small-sized dehumidifiers, so there’s nothing too fancy about this model.
Conclusion: It only makes sense for the larger Ivation to come equipped with a larger tank. However, the thing we love about the Ivation is that it gives you a window of at least three days of worry-free operations.
This is more of a convenience factor than anything else, but it’s still important since nobody likes babysitting their appliances 24/7. The neat thing is that both of these models have an auto-shutoff feature which kills the motor as soon as it detects that their tanks are full.
Direct-Connect Drain Hose
Ivation IVADM35
If you’d prefer avoiding any manual labor, then consider connecting a drain hose to the Ivation’s drain port. Any water that is stored in the tank will drip through the hose, exiting wherever the end of the hose is placed. Using this hose requires placing the tool near a sink or window, so water doesn’t drip all over your floors. The drain hose for this dehumidifier is sold separately.

Pro Breeze Electric Mini Dehumidifier
This tool is too small to have a drain port installed. Manually emptying out the 18-ounce tank every two days or so shouldn’t be too much trouble. The only problem that very few customers have experienced is that the drain plug on the tank is too snug with the port, making emptying out the tank a challenge.
Conclusion: Medium-sized dehumidifiers like this Ivation model should come with a port that connects to a drain hose. Manually carrying huge amounts of water is a spilling hazard and could potentially warp your beautiful wood floor. It’s unfortunate that isn’t included with the tool, but it’s still better than nothing.
Verdict
In conclusion, it’s not entirely fair comparing these two models, though if you’re looking for something to handle a single large room, then the Ivation IVADM35 would be the better option to have. The Ivation provides almost twice as much dehumidifying power and capacity as the Pro Breeze Electric Mini Dehumidifier, but once again, we’re comparing apples to larger apples.
